This project to relocate three local GP Practices into a new Primary Care Centre was very much a community project, involving a number of different key stakeholders providing a wide range of integrated health and social services in one location.
In addition to the accommodation for 14 GPs and their staff, the building provides facilities for the community trust and mental health teams, together with a café. A separate building standing adjacent, The Quay Building, houses the main offices of the Town Council, a pharmacy and two retail units.
A large centrally located site was acquired from the Local Authority for the development. The site, which was formerly used as a market place, is close to a residential area and is easily accessible to all patients by public transport as well as providing ample parking facilities.
The resource centre design is modern and streamlined and reflects the importance of the project to the local community. This is another Haven Health scheme which has received the approval of the Welsh Assembly’s Design Commission. Again, the modern and welcoming atmosphere creates an attractive working environment for the staff who work within it and for the patients who visit it.
