This scheme involved the relocation of two separate GP practices into one building, together with additional primary care services provided by PCT and Community Trust clinicians.
Initially, when Haven Health was appointed as the 3PD partner for the project, it was proposed that the medical centre be included on a site within a town centre redevelopment. However, it became clear that the requirements of the commercial elements of the redevelopment would conflict with the GPs’ own requirements for their development. Haven Health therefore undertook an alternative site options appraisal with the final preferred location being an attractive edge of town site of 1.5 acres within the Duchy’s renowned Poundbury Village.
Given the particular architectural ethos of the Poundbury Village, the interior layout of the building was designed by one of our healthcare specialist architects, whilst the exterior was designed by one of the approved Duchy architects, both of whom kept in mind and maintained the architectural style of the Poundbury Village. The completed building therefore combines state-of-the-art modern clinical facilities with a heritage architectural appearance.
